About
Reframing the Global Narrative of Black Art Through Strategy, Scholarship, and Market Intelligence
Ludlow E. Bailey is a globally recognized cultural curator, art advisor, and market strategist specializing in Contemporary African Diaspora Art.
With a career spanning more than three decades and travel to over 150 countries, Bailey brings a rare combination of curatorial vision, global market intelligence, and executive-level business expertise to the international art world.
Born with roots in Panama and Jamaica and raised between New York and London, his perspective is inherently diasporic—shaped by movement, cross-cultural exchange, and a deep understanding of global systems and cultural identity.
Bailey's entry into the art world began in Rome in 1989, where he curated a breakthrough exhibition for an African American artist that achieved both critical and commercial success. His ability to produce this exhibition was made possible through his prior academic experience at the American Classical School in Rome, which he attended during a Stanford Overseas Program while a student at Brown University.
Prior to fully dedicating himself to the arts, Bailey served as a senior executive in global marketing, sales, and public relations with Trans World Airlines (TWA), working extensively across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada. Leveraging this experience, he developed a distinctive model for producing exhibitions internationally—utilizing global logistics networks, strategic partnerships, and cultural diplomacy to position African Diaspora art within new and emerging markets.
Over the past three decades, Bailey has curated over 100 exhibitions and has advised collectors, institutions, and governments on cultural strategy and art market development. His work includes creative industry initiatives in Nigeria, the United States Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, and Mexico, where he has contributed to the growth and global positioning of local art ecosystems.
From 2004 to 2014, he served as a Consulting Curator at the University of Miami, further solidifying his role as a bridge between academia, cultural production, and the global art market.
Bailey is the Founder and Managing Director of CADA International (Contemporary African Diaspora Art), a platform dedicated to advancing the visibility, scholarship, and market value of artists of African descent worldwide.
He has also worked in collaboration with leading financial institutions, including William Blair and Northern Trust, advising on art as an asset class and its integration into wealth management strategies.
Multilingual and globally engaged, Bailey operates at the intersection of art, finance, and international cultural policy, positioning Contemporary African Diaspora Art within the broader framework of global influence, identity, and capital.
Mr. Bailey was educated at a distinguished group of global institutions, reflecting his deep intellectual engagement with culture, history, and international affairs.
"CADA International operates at the intersection of culture, capital, and global influence—connecting exceptional artists with collectors, institutions, and markets worldwide."
